The Social On The Square
This blog aims to educate people on both the restaurants and bars of Glasgow using my own personal experience, and in doing this I hope at least one person gains the knowledge they are looking for regarding any of these places they may intent to visit.
The Social on the square, more commonly known simply as The Social, is one of Glasgow's most sought after bars. This is due to a combination of factors including location, entertainment, drinks variety and many more. The bar is located at 27 Royal Exchange Square right next to the Royal Art Gallery. The location of The Social is classed as one of the most prime locations anywhere in the city, with the amount of different shops, restaurants etc, the Royal Exchange Square is a hot spot within the city.
Background
The Social is one of the most popular bars in Glasgow and has a very central location which makes it convenient to visit. It is open both during the day and at night and is very popular no matter the time. At the weekend there is a live in house DJ which draws a big crowd due to the lively atmosphere of the place. On weeknights although there is no live DJ, the music is still similar to that of the weekends which is great for people who enjoy a night our during the week as well as the weekend. I have visited The Social on numerous occasions in all different groups and sizes, enjoying myself every single time. It caters for a mixed crowd meaning anyone can enjoy their night in here.
I quite often go out into Glasgow and The Social is always one of my go to places. It may not be everyone's cup of tea purely due to how lively and upbeat it is, so if you are looking for a quiet drink somewhere else may be a better choice on this occasion.
Menu
The Social offers what I would class as the best cocktails in Glasgow. Not only is the choice of drinks very extensive, they also sell food to have along side your drink of choice. It provides great diversity and maintains customers as they don't need to go elsewhere for food. Both menus are provided below:
The one cocktail I get every time without fail is the Solero. This is by far the best alcoholic drinks I have ever had in my life, and for someone who doesn't like cocktails, that's saying something. There are drinks packages offered which makes a lot of sense for a group of people. You can also buy cocktail trees which includes 9 cocktails at a discounted price making it very worthwhile if you know you would be getting 9 or more cocktails anyway. Not to worry for those who don't drink cocktails as there are loads of different alternative option.
Service
The Service in the social can be a hit or miss only due to the volume of customers which are often there at the same time. The bar staff are never lazy and attend to you as quickly as they can within their limits. The bar staff are interactive with customers making the experience of waiting at the bar that little bit more bearable. I can't fault the staff for their attentiveness as they try their best to make sure all customers are taken care of and any demands are met to the highest potential.
The social is definitely one of the best places to go for a night out in Glasgow as it will leave you with a night to remember (or not remember).
